Doggy High Tea returns to The President Hotel
Tails are wagging as Cape Town's most pampered pooches gather for an afternoon of canine cuisine. Following the success of May's sold-out event, the President Hotel will have a return of their Doggy High Tea on Saturday, 25 October 2025, from 2pm to 5pm.
The event features specially designed menus for both pups and parents. Canine guests will be treated to a selection including tail-wagging terrine with chicken liver and sautéed spinach and canine croquettes featuring salmon and sweet potato, while dessert promises strawberry banana bites, peanut butter pup cakes and more.
Meanwhile, human guests can indulge in an equally impressive spread featuring gourmet offerings such as vol-au-vent with roasted mebos chicken and fermented peach aioli, melanzane tartlets, and finger sandwiches with smoked trout and lemon cream cheese. The sweet selection includes citrus cheesecake, traditional buttermilk scones and decadent milk tart éclairs.
This event marks the beginning of the summer season and coincides with exciting developments at the hotel, including renovations to create a stunning new pool area that will further enhance the poolside experience for all guests.
The Doggy High Tea is priced at R300 per pooch and R350 per parent, with booking essential as spaces fill quickly.

Indulge in a sensory journey of fine wine, coastal charm, and culinary artistry at The Marine on Saturday 30 August 2025, as the renowned Hermanus hotel hosts a leisurely afternoon of food and wine pairing on the cliffs of one of the world’s most celebrated whale-watching coastlines.
The wines featured are the pride of Springfield Estate, a family-owned winery in the Robertson Valley, which has earned acclaim for its philosophy of minimal intervention and terroir-driven winemaking. Each bottle reflects dedication to purity and balance - from the minerality of Life from Stone to the elegant structure of The Work of Time.
Set for a sublime winter’s afternoon, guests will be welcomed with a glass of Life from Stone Sauvignon Blanc 2025 by the owner of Springfield, Jeanette Bruwer. The wine is renowned for its racy minerality, offering the perfect introduction to an exclusive menu of meticulously curated small plates and wine pairings. Each course is crafted by Head Chef Oelof Vorster, whose refined touch brings out the best of local produce and bold global influences.
The menu begins with Citrus-cured sea bass accompanied by grapefruit and lime segments, paired with the vibrant Springfield Estate Miss Lucy, a unique blend bursting with freshness, showcasing stone fruit and lime with a crisp, saline finish that mirrors its maritime origins. The second small plate, a delicate Chawanmushi with shiitake consommé draws depth and umami to match the complexity of Springfield Estate Wild Yeast Chardonnay 2023, known for its wild fermentation and layered palate of butterscotch, citrus zest, and integrated oak.
For the main course, Pepper-crusted beef fillet is elegantly complemented by Springfield Estate Whole Berry Cabernet Sauvignon 2022, a juicy and expressive red with soft tannins, and velvety mouthfeel from whole berry fermentation. A decadent finale awaits with a Dark chocolate torte, paired with the rich and layered Springfield Estate The Work of Time 2019, a barrel-aged Bordeaux-style blend with a long, elegant finish that lives up to its name.
Overlooking the famed cliff path and the vast Atlantic beyond, The Marine’s Pavilion Restaurant offers the perfect setting to enjoy this gourmet experience. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame uninterrupted ocean views, adding a magical backdrop to a menu designed to spark conversation and showcase the best of South African hospitality. With whale season in full swing, guests may even glimpse southern right whales breaching just offshore.
Visitors to Hermanus are invited to combine the gourmet wine event with whale watching activities and a stay over at The Marine on the weekend of 30 August 2025. The special all-inclusive package of R4900 for two people sharing includes two seats at the Saturday Food & Wine Lunch on 30 August, one night’s luxury accommodation in a Double Room, and full breakfast the next morning.

Uncork your creativity at Brookdale Estate in the Paarl Winelands, where fine wine, inspired cuisine, and artistic expression will come together for a meaningful cause on Saturday 13 September 2025.
Hosted in partnership with the social impact organisation Call to Care, this unique Brookdale Clay & Wine fundraising event invites guests to a morning of art, flavour, and purpose in a guided workshop where guests will sculpt, paint and decorate their own clay jewellery tray to take home.
Call to Care is a Cape-based non-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting vulnerable communities. By focusing on education, youth development, and basic needs support, they work tirelessly to create sustainable, long-term change for those most in need.
Guests will be welcomed at the Bistro at Brookdale with a glass of bubbly on arrival, followed by tastings of two Brookdale Mason Road wines, enjoyed with one of the elegantly plated small dishes. Choose between Duck liver pâté; Miso aubergine; or Bobotie tortellini in a feast for the senses that mirrors the creativity of the day.
For those wishing to extend the experience, Brookdale invites you to relax and savour a seasonal 2-course lunch (R425) or indulge in the full 3-course offering (R565) at the estate’s elegant bistro-style restaurant amongst the vineyards.
More than just a creative culinary adventure, proceeds from Brookdale’s Clay & Wine event will contribute to the support of underserved communities across the Western Cape.
