Get ready for a season of starlit magic as The Galileo Open Air Cinema returns to Nederburg for the 2025|2026 summer season, and this year, the experience goes one step further. For the first time, Nederburg welcomes Galileo Royale, an intimate, elevated cinema evening that pairs the thrill of travel and discovery with street food, wine, and open-air wonder.
True to Nederburg’s ethos of “Yours to Explore,” the Galileo Royale evenings invite guests to journey through stories, flavours, and destinations, all from the comfort of the Cape Winelands. Each event features limited seating, a welcome drink and canapés, and a themed streetfood main meal inspired by the night’s film. It’s a sensory adventure that brings together film, food, and a touch of wanderlust under a canopy of stars.

This Christmas Eve — 24 December 2025 — we’re opening our doors for a truly festive Christmas Lunch and Dinner at Nederburg, where good food, fine wine, and warm company come together in perfect harmony. Surrounded by the beauty of our historic estate in Paarl, we invite you to relax, connect, and celebrate the joy of the season with family and friends.
Your festive experience begins with an elegant amuse bouche — a mini roast beetroot and whipped feta tarte, perfectly paired with a complimentary glass of our Nederburg Grenache/Carignan Rosé.
For starters you can expect serve generous sharing platters filled with flavour and festive cheer. Our homemade bread board comes laden with crostini, lavash, marinated olives, chutney, onion marmalade, and whipped flavoured butter — rustic, delicious, and made for gathering around the table. Alongside, our smoked salmon carpaccio adds a touch of sophistication, with thinly sliced smoked salmon layered with caper berries, pickled cucumber, fennel, lemon crème fraîche, and toasted ciabatta.
When it’s time for the main course, we’ll bring out a feast to share — the kind of food that brings people together. Our slow-cooked leg of lamb, infused with garlic, rosemary, and Nederburg red wine, is served with minted pea purée, confit tomatoes, and roasted baby potatoes. The honey-glazed gammon, slow-roasted with a sweet, sticky glaze of pineapple and wholegrain mustard, pairs beautifully with candied sweet potato fondant and baby vegetables. And for seafood lovers, our pan-seared line fish with lemon butter and capers offers a lighter but equally indulgent option, accompanied by mint and pea cous cous, grilled greens, and a tarragon beurre blanc.
Dessert brings the celebration to a close on the sweetest of notes. Choose between our Amarula Christmas Trifle — layers of vanilla sponge, custard, mixed berries, and whipped Amarula cream topped with toasted almonds and shaved chocolate — or the Peppermint Crisp & Chocolate Yule Log, a decadent chocolate sponge rolled with peppermint mousse and finished with dark chocolate ganache and crisp shards.
The full experience is R915 per person, which includes a small festive gift and gratuity. Children are welcome to join in the celebration at R400 per child — because Christmas just isn’t the same without them.
And yes, Santa will be joining us too! We’ll be welcoming him to Nederburg to spread a little extra cheer, and guests are invited to arrange for delivery of personalised, wrapped gifts to be handed out by Santa during lunch or dinner. It’s a magical touch that makes the day truly special — especially for the little ones (and maybe the big ones too).

This December, on three unforgettable nights, the farm will open its lawns after sunset for a series of relaxed, music-filled evenings that capture the easy magic of a South African summer.
Picture it: the sun dipping behind the mountains, soft music in the background, laughter carrying through the warm air. You’re stretched out on a blanket beneath the trees, a glass of Nederburg wine in hand, the scent of summer herbs mingling with freshly cut grass. It’s laid-back, beautiful, and unmistakably Nederburg — where hospitality and heart meet under the night sky.
Each picnic basket is thoughtfully curated to showcase local, seasonal flavours — a true taste of the Cape Winelands. Expect a feast that begins with local cheeses, marinated olives, and seasonal fruit, paired with house-made onion marmalade and crisp lavash. Enjoy artisanal bread with whipped butter, smoked trout pâté, and grilled free-range chicken in a velvety coronation sauce with almonds and apricots. Rustic baby potato salad, pickled beetroot with creamy feta, and a fresh garden salad round off the savoury selection. To finish, indulge in classic South African milk tart and peppermint crisp tart, both as nostalgic as they are delicious.
The experience is open to everyone — couples looking for a romantic night out, families wanting to make the most of the holidays, and friends simply seeking a beautiful evening together. The expansive lawns provide plenty of space for kids to play, and well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome too. Bring your own blanket or low chairs, find your spot beneath the stars, and let the evening unfold.
