Our Daily Garden Tour starts at 10h00 in front of  the Farm Shop. One of our experienced gardeners will be your guide on this tour, during which we encourage guests to pick, taste, smell and touch while walking through our garden.

Special Collections Tour:

Come on the daily guided walk from Monday to Friday at 11h30, to discover our special collections. Depending on the time of year, guests will be taken to see the succulent collection, the cycads next to the stream or for a walk through the Healing Garden.

When guests are not in residence, The Homestead at Hazendal is open for day visitors to discover the period furniture, architecture and art on self-guided tours.

Highlights include original works by acclaimed artists Vladimir Tretchikoff and Jacobus Hendrik Pierneef, one of the largest privately-held historic map collections in South Africa and furniture rarities from the 18th–century.

One of Franschhoek Cellar‘s most popular attractions is our fantastic covered play park, where kids can play for hours under the attentive supervision of our capable childminders, giving parents complete peace of mind to enjoy a wine tasting or the sumptuous offerings of our restaurant in the tranquil courtyard. The spacious surrounds allow kids the freedom to run around and have fun to heart’s content.

Children can feast on nutritious, delicious dishes from their own unique menu which includes favourites such as homemade spaghetti and meatballs, beef or chicken burger, baked fish, pizza and much more. Moreover, don’t forget the great selection of sweet treats to make the party extra yum.

Who doesn’t want leisurely time in the garden under the cool shade of centuries-old trees! Add to that a basket of tasty picnic fare, presented with a bottle of chilled wine of course.  

The Manor’s picnics take care of it all. Crockery, cutlery, glasses, napkins, a blanket and comfy cushion. Plus a bottle of Nederburg’s Première Cuvée Brut sparkling wine, or a bottle of any varietal or blended wine from its The Winemasters collection. Look forward to a delicious spread of cheeses, charcuterie, summer fruit, onion jam, pâté, butter, crackers, and freshly-baked bread. There’s also Middle-Eastern spiced chicken fillet, bulgar wheat salad and harissa hummus, spinach and feta quiche, decadent chocolate brownies and Amarula fudge.

The picnic basket (a vegetarian option is also available), at R700, serves two adults. Soft drinks, mineral waters, beers, ciders, and hot beverages can be added, at an additional cost. 

Kids’ picnics, at R140 per head, include a meal (from the kids’ à la carte menu), a fresh fruit skewer, mini cheeses, crackers, chocolate brownie and fudge, and a small fruit juice.

Picnics need to be booked at least 24 hours in advance.
