As winter evenings draw in, Nederburg invites guests to ease into the weekend with First Fridays at The Courtyard, a laid-back monthly gathering centred around good wine, comforting food, and the simple pleasure of staying a little longer.
On the first Friday of every winter month, the cellar doors remain open until 20h00, welcoming guests to gather by the fireplace in The Courtyard. Freshly made pizzas emerge from the kitchen, award-winning Nederburg wines flow easily, and the atmosphere is set by live music that adds warmth and rhythm to the evening without ever overpowering conversation.
Designed to be unhurried and unpretentious, First Fridays is about connection rather than occasion, a chance to meet friends after work, settle in with family, or begin the weekend at a gentler pace. Whether you arrive for a quick glass or linger long into the evening, the experience is defined by firelight, familiar flavours, and the pleasure of being present.
First Fridays at the Courtyard is winter at Nederburg at its most welcoming, relaxed, convivial, and made for sharing.

Hazendal presents the Estate’s new Bottelary Hills wine collection by cellarmaster, Kiara Scott Farmer.
“Every vintage holds clues, patterns hidden in the vines waiting to be understood” - for Kiara these clues are subtle guides of her winemaking philosophy.
The Bottelary Hills collection presents a balanced curation of three single-variety wines: Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Pinot Noir Rosé.

Journey to our underground wine tunnel to savour Babylonstoren’s finest wines. Our cellar tour starts in the vineyards above ground, where vines from various styles are cultivated. From there, we venture into the working cellar with its array of wine-producing vessels, from amphorae clay pots to open cement fermenters and concrete eggs. The tour concludes with a master tasting of our finest wines, paired with farm-grown and handmade delicacies.
Babylonstoren was voted the best Innovative Wine Tourism Experience in the country in 2022 by the Best of Wine Tourism Awards.
Cost R650 per person (includes tasting). Payment is required to secure booking. We regret no under 18's.
Please note this is a walking tour and it is recommended to wear comfortable shoes. Regrettably, the Cellar Tour isn't accessible for wheelchairs.

“Friday isn’t just a day, it’s a feeling. We’re bringing it to life with J.C. Fridays, a call to make every Friday one to celebrate with J.C. Le Roux.
Devised as a masterclass in fun, flavour and sparkle, J.C. Fridays will take place on the last Friday of every month until the end of the year.
The experience includes a glass of bubbly on arrival, a tasting of five sparkling wines paired with decadent mini cakes by Château Gâteaux, and an electrifying live performance in the garden overlooking the valley as the sun sets.

Delicious wood-fired pizzas and other delectable food will be available from on-site restaurant Cucina Di Giovanna.

Sunset Rosé (Nectar Demi-Sec Rosé)
Refresh your tastebuds with the J.C. Le Roux Nectar Rosé, orange, and Vodka poptail, which has a sassy twist of thyme syrup. This refreshing poptail includes a raspberry and ginger popsicle to add a fiery chill.
