We’re diving deep into sake—from classic Junmai to sparkling sake, our rotating list invites you to explore the many faces of Japan’s national drink. Sake, also known as 'nihonshu,' is a traditional Japanese alcoholic beverage made from fermented rice. It has been enjoyed in Japan for centuries and is an integral part of the country's culture and cuisine.

Junmai sake is pure rice sake, made without any added alcohol or sugar, showcasing a rich and full-bodied flavour that pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes. On the other hand, sparkling sake offers a delightful twist with its effervescent bubbles and refreshing taste, making it perfect for celebrations or as an aperitif.

At Yatai Ramen Bar, we are passionate about sake and are excited to bring you a diverse selection to enhance your dining experience. Whether you are a seasoned sake enthusiast or a curious newcomer, our curated list is designed to delight and surprise your palate.

Our entire sake range is sold in either 175ml carafe, 750ml carafe or the whole 750ml bottle. We offer a range of sake-based cocktails to try as well.

Our back bar is now stocked with a refined selection of Japanese whiskeys—from smoky to floral, there's something to suit every palate. Japanese whiskeys are revered worldwide for their meticulous craftsmanship, blending innovative techniques with traditional practices to create unique and sophisticated flavours.

Take, for example, the Suntory Toki, known for its exceptional balance and harmony, featuring a silky texture with a subtly sweet and spicy finish. It's a great introduction to Japanese whiskey, highlighting the delicate artistry involved in its production.

Another excellent choice is the Nikka Gold & Gold Samurai, offering a rich and complex profile with hints of honey, spices, and a smooth, lingering finish. The Samurai edition is particularly notable for its distinctive packaging, which adds an element of cultural heritage to its presentation.

The crown jewel of our whiskey offering is Hibiki 21, crafted by Suntory and aged for at least 21 years. It boasts a rich amber hue, with aromas of dried fruits, honey, and dark chocolate. The palate features sweet caramel, ripe plums, and a subtle spiciness, leading to a smooth finish. This whiskey was awarded “World’s Best Blended Whisky” in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2017, and 2019.

Vergelegen Wine Estate in Somerset West, renowned for its beautiful gardens and majestic mountain backdrops, offers a portfolio of outstanding wedding, corporate, conference, and special occasion venues. Event organisers, companies and private individuals can choose from several enchanting locations.

Riverside conservatory: An elegant glass conservatory, seating up to 400 guests, has been installed  near the Lourens River, ensuring an exquisite venue whatever the weather. The conservatory overlooks a manicured riverside lawn, ideal for pre-event drinks.

Lake and mountain venue: The spectacular backdrop of the Helderberg and Hottentots Holland mountains is reflected in the lake’s tranquil waters. A perfect location to exchange vows or serve pre-event drinks and canapes.

Camphor forest: Imagine saying “I do” beneath a canopy of ancient camphor trees, with sunlight filtering through the leaves. The camphor forest can accommodate up to 300 wedding reception guests. This site is also suitable for elegant picnics, for up to 120 guests, weather permitting.

Octagonal Garden: Vergelegen’s spectacular Octagonal Garden, dating back to the 18th century, is renowned for its ancient trees and abundant herbaceous borders leading to the historic manor house. The pergola and octagonal layout create a timeless setting. Optimal for weddings and pre-event drinks. 
Rose Terrace Tea Room: A charming venue overlooking the rose garden, serving  breakfasts, lunches, and indulgent high teas. The cottage, seating up to 24 guests, is available for private morning or afternoon bookings. It is a popular choice for kitchen teas and birthday celebrations.

Stables Restaurant: This restaurant is renowned for its spectacular garden setting and mountain backdrop. Seating up to 110 guests, it is an excellent choice for wedding receptions and family gatherings. The varied menu suits most culinary requirements.  A private room accommodates up to 40 lunch guests.

The estate has a dedicated events and hospitality manager, Sue Steenkamp, and a garden team led by resident horticulturists Richard Arm and Chris Randlehoff. They have extensive experience in facilitating events and partnering with specialist event management teams. Their commitment to excellence ensures that every event is not only meticulously planned, but also flawlessly executed.
