With Heritage Month underway, September brings a distinctly South African flavour to the estate, alongside an enticing programme of experiences for all ages.
Spring Picnics
A classic Hazendal picnic is made for slow spring days. Settle onto the lawns with freshly baked breads, garden-inspired salads, local cheeses, charcuterie and seasonal meats, followed by Amarula and naartjie cheesecake.
Add a bottle of Hazendal wine, find a sunny spot among the gardens and vineyards, and let the afternoon unfold.

National Heritage Day Braai Picnic
On 24 September, Hazendal celebrates Heritage Day with a proper South African braai picnic.
Expect live-fire cooking and braai favourites including flame-grilled steak and sosaties, glazed chicken and a Boerewors Bar featuring three regional takes on a South African classic: Heritage Wors, Kaapse Wors and Karoo Wors.
Local cheeses, charcuterie and garden salads complete the feast, with lawn games and plenty of space for children to play.

Heritage Afternoon Tea
South African heritage takes a refined turn with Hazendal's Heritage Afternoon Tea, where familiar local flavours are reimagined for an elegant afternoon experience.
The menu includes boerewors meatballs glazed with tomato and rooibos, braaibroodjie fingers with peach and onion chutney, milk tart choux buns, malva cake pops and rooibos and Amarula crème brûlée, accompanied by live piano.

Heritage Month for the Family
Younger visitors can enjoy Hazendal's Cookies & Curiosity experience. During September, children booking a one- or two-hour Wonderdal Play Session receive a complimentary 30-minute Estate Scavenger Hunt, following clues around the estate to discover hidden Heritage Cookies.

At Siyalima, spring is celebrated with a three-course seasonal menu showcasing ingredients such as garden peas, asparagus, wild garlic, lamb, apricot, hibiscus, pear and strawberry.

For those seeking a more restorative experience, Hazendal's Heritage Full-Body Massage & Cuisine Experiencecombines a 60-minute bespoke full-body massage with a two-course South African-inspired meal overlooking the gardens and Bottelary Hills.

Wine, Golf and Leisure
There is plenty more reason to linger. Guests can explore Hazendal's wines through guided tasting experiences at the Wine Lounge, while golfers can take advantage of September and October spring specials, including InRange driving-range experiences and weekday golf packages.
The estate's Senior Heritage Special offers further value for golfers aged 60 and over, with discounted weekday golf and putting throughout September, excluding public holidays.
Evenings at Hazendal
As the days lengthen, Hazendal's spring programme continues into the evening. The Listening Room brings live local music to Marks Lounge every Saturday evening from 19:00 to 21:00, accompanied by seasonal dishes and Hazendal wines.
Friday evenings offer another opportunity to unwind with live entertainment, food, cocktails and wine overlooking the working cellar.
