The Marine Hotel unveils an enticing Winter Events line-up

30 May 2025

The Marine Hotel in Hermanus is set to warm up the winter season with an exciting calendar of events, kicking off in June. Highlights include a comforting new Winter Warmers menu, the return of the popular First Friday Bottomless Bubbles, and a series of Saturday Food & Wine Lunches showcasing standout South African estates. Bookings are also open for Father’s Day Sunday Roast Lunch on 15 June 2025, offering a 3-course menu at R465 per person.

A local favourite returns with First Friday Bottomless Bubbly and live music, taking place from 4pm to 6pm on the first Friday of each month, from June through September. Sip on bottomless L’Ormarins Brut, paired with three elegant canapés by Chef Oelof Vorster, for R265 per person. Stay for dinner and receive a 10% discount on your food and beverage bill.

The Marine’s new series of Saturday Food & Wine Lunches will launch on 21 June 2025 with Iona Wines from the Elgin Valley; followed by Thorne & Daughters Wines on 26 July 2025, and the wines of Springfield Estate on 30 August 2025. The stylish Pavilion Restaurant will provide a cosy venue for an afternoon of delicious cuisine and conversation overlooking the cliff path and ocean beyond. At R495 per person, it includes a welcome glass of wine, two small plates as starters, and a main course with each course paired with a wine from the featured winery, presented by the winemaker in person. Dessert will follow, to end the afternoon on a sweet note.

Spoil yourself with this gourmet event and make a night of it by staying over at The Marine at a special rate of R4900 for 2 people sharing. It includes the Saturday Food & Wine Lunch and luxury accommodation in a Double Room, as well as full breakfast the next morning, complete with your choice of hot breakfast dish, as well as coffees and teas, and the continental buffet that includes a glass of bubbles, a Mimosa or a Bloody Mary.

For casual dining on a chilly day, escape the cold and enjoy a hearty dish from The Marine’s new Winter Warmers menu. At R165 per dish, choices include Mutton Masala Curry with steamed rice, salsa and poppadom; or Buttermilk-marinated crumbed chicken burger with Chimichurri, coleslaw and triple-cooked chips. Other options include Braised beef risotto with carrot, pea, crispy onion and pickled mushroom; and in a tribute to its magnificent seaside location, a Seafood chowder with calamari, mussels and catch of the day served with ciabatta toast. The Winter Warmers menu is served weekdays (Mondays to Thursdays) for lunch or dinner, from June through August.

Centrally located within walking distance of many art galleries and venues, The Marine also provides the ideal base for visitors attending Hermanus’ upcoming arts festivals this winter. Ideal for a quick drink or a cup of coffee, or a laid-back meal between shows and exhibitions, the Winter Warmers menu will also be served in the relaxed Sun Lounge during the FynArts Festival (6–16 June) and Kalfiefees (1–10 August). With last orders taken at 21:00, it’s the perfect spot for a light dinner, or enjoying a nightcap at the end of a busy festival day.
