Situated in the oldest hotel in South Africa, on the site of its first church, Oude Werf’s dining history began with the hearty 19th Century country dishes of legendary Hotel owner, Tant Betje Wium. Today, our Chef explores the region’s many flavours and vintages at a splendid new restaurant with in-situ kitchen, fireside interior and vine-covered courtyard - just off our poolside bar/coffee lounge and our famous ‘voorstoep’ on Church Street.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily.
Our daily Continental Buffet offers a generous selection of seasonal fruit, local cheeses, meats and patisserie. Still peckish? Order a traditional cooked breakfast or one of our signature dishes like Eggs Benedict or Smoked Salmon Crumpet… with fresh barista coffee naturally.
Recharge any time from noon to sundown in our shady courtyard (or indoors) with café style lunchtime favourites like salads, pasta, a generously-filled sandwich or wrap, scrumptious Cape snoek-cakes, classic fish ‘n chips, sirloin, or one of our ‘man-size’ ground beef burgers.
Settle in for Cape flavours with a gourmet twist, featuring Atlantic Salmon, locally-farmed Duck, Pork, Beef or Venison. Sample 4 classic Cape flavours with our ‘Truly South African’ main. And don’t miss a more-ish dessert or a glass or two of our region’s top vintages!

Our Restaurant hosts functions and gatherings, from corporate/group gatherings to informal celebrations, requiring cocktail, buffet or sit-down facilities. We also offer traditional ‘Braais’ (barbeques) for groups during the summer months. Our restaurant can accommodate groups of up to 75 guests.

This year, we’re very excited to announce that you can choose from three very special Christmas celebrations!
At the Christmas Eve Dinner (R435 per person) you get a tantalising taste of the Yuletide tradition with a surprise contemporary ending. The menu starts with the most delicious first course: sticky pork belly with celery root and turnip puree, crackling and a sprout salad. The main is roast lamb shoulder with butternut fritters, buttered greens, gravy and yummy homemade onion-and-mint chutney with loads of roast potatoes. Dessert is a heavenly chocolate “mud” pudding with vanilla-bean ice cream.
Christmas Day Lunch (R485 per person) features all your festive favourites: Norwegian salmon with dill hollandaise to start is followed by sage-and-butter turkey (or honey-ed rosemary chicken) and apricot and orange glazed gammon plus roast potatoes, creamed spinach, backed caramel pumpkin and sweet potato. Dessert is Christmas pudding (of course!) with ice cream, boozy berries and meringue crumble. Wow!
You can also choose to end your merry Christmas with a divine Christmas Dinner (R435 per person). Imagine a pork and prawn risotto served with homemade prawn crackers… mmm and that’s just for starters. Your entree is roast turkey swathed in streaky bacon with a cranberry compote, butternut fritters, buttered greens and gravy. Round off a fabulous day with black forest gateau, fresh cherries and cream.

South Africa’s oldest Inn offers indulgent tea parties for the perfect treat. Celebrate birthdays, kitchen teas and baby showers, bring your book club or simply enjoy an afternoon in good company.
