Inspired by Durban’s vibrant food culture and rich agricultural heritage, Straight Outta Durban features six chefs, six dishes, and one shared mission: to showcase the exceptional produce that makes KwaZulu-Natal one of South Africa’s most exciting food destinations.
The collaboration stars renowned chefs Wandile Mabaso, Vusi Ndlovu, Kobus van der Merwe, Katlego Mlambo, Rowan Larkin, and Johannes Richter, each bringing their unique culinary perspective to the project. Together, they represent a diverse cross-section of South Africa’s modern food movement, united by a passion for local sourcing and authentic storytelling through food.
Durban has long been celebrated for its cultural diversity, coastal influences, and distinctive flavours.
