“Sharing is caring” – A Love Letter from Danny and the Team at Ladles of Love

20 June 2025

  • Kathleen Quillinan from Pesto Princess

Dear Reader,

We have a wonderful story to share this week. It started many years ago when Kathleen Quillinan from Pesto Princess reached out in an incredible act of kindness. Being the talented storyteller she is, she painted a picture of how she envisioned that by selling her soup, she could create a revenue stream to fund hearty meals for people in need.

Kathleen explained that whilst she was in food, it was always a ‘soul business,’ and this meant caring was at the very core of Pesto Princess and in her books - caring was ‘love in action’. What sounded like a fairytale at the time evolved to become an extraordinary ‘ubuntu partnership,’ and her brilliant idea for marketing her soup ‘Buy 1 Give 1’ - became a game changer.

Every year and sometimes twice a year, Kathleen and her team arrive with big cheques, and this is all because people like you are putting ‘love in action’ by supporting Pesto Princess. Over the years the impact has been huge, and we have been able to serve thousands and thousands of destitute people wholesome meals with love, dignity, and respect.

The fairy tale continues, and this week became a reality for hundreds of children at Hope of Africa, a preschool in Delft. Kathleen and her team handed over a bumper cheque to us that puts ‘love in action’ in the most beautiful way.  This money will ensure that these kids can continue to receive healthy meals twice a day for a year.

Monica, the principal, was overjoyed and emotional as she said she cannot believe the difference in the children since they started receiving proper nutritious food. She shared stories of how the sick bay that was always busy is now empty and the children who were struggling to focus are managing to learn better. Because there is no food at home, they now race to school every day. She says the best news is that by us providing ample food, it reduces her bills, and she can afford to feed and pay teachers’ salaries.

Stories like this inspire us to be the change and put 'love in action', by doing whatever we can. We would love to co-create a partnership, so if you’re interested - be it as an individual, small business or corporate company—please reply to this mail, and let’s talk.

In the meantime - heads up everyone - don’t forget to book your tickets for Ladles of Love Mandela Day HERE  Can you believe Mandela Day is on a Friday and it’s only one month away? Let’s do it!

With gratitude and appreciation,
Danny and the team at Ladles of Love
