Cape Town’s The Pot Luck Club Extends Its London Residency at The Waldorf Hilton
20 August 2026
Cape Town institution The Pot Luck Club is extending its successful London residency at The Waldorf Hilton, London, with the celebrated restaurant now set to remain in the capital until the end of March 2027.
Originally launched in August 2025 as a three-month pop-up, the residency has continued well beyond its initial run following a strong response from London diners. What began as a temporary international collaboration has evolved into an established part of The Waldorf Hilton’s food and beverage offering.
The Pot Luck Club is now based in The Wild Monkey Bar, bringing its signature combination of globally inspired small plates, bold flavours and relaxed sophistication to one of the hotel’s most atmospheric spaces.
Following a seasonal break during July and August, the restaurant will reopen in September with a refreshed menu and new cocktail offering for the London autumn and winter season.
Created by British-born chef Luke Dale Roberts, The Pot Luck Club has become one of Cape Town’s most distinctive dining destinations. Perched above the Old Biscuit Mill, the restaurant is known for its inventive small plates, unexpected flavour combinations and convivial approach to dining.
The London menu continues that philosophy, with global influences meeting seasonal ingredients and the restaurant’s characteristic sense of playfulness. New dishes include hamachi tiradito with amarillo leche de tigre, grilled tandoori cod with coconut roti and mango achar, and a Korean prawn taco with kimchi and ssamjang. Further additions include lamb shank with festive spices, Szechuan, beer and orange duck, and an open venison bánh mì.
The dessert menu also introduces Roots, a layered creation combining parsnip and olive oil cake, celeriac granita, roast pear, apple jelly, Jerusalem artichoke sabayon and chestnut ice cream.
The seasonal refresh extends to the cocktail menu at The Wild Monkey, with new creations including the Sage & Pineapple Margarita, Bumbu Sour and Tom Yum, bringing aromatic, spicy and tropical notes to the drinks offering.
For Luke Dale Roberts, the London residency has particular significance.
“We’ve talked about bringing The Pot Luck Club to London for years, and it was always the city that made sense,” says Dale Roberts. “As a Brit, there’s something meaningful about returning in this way and sharing what we’ve created in Cape Town with a London audience. The response to the residency has been incredible, so having the opportunity to extend our time at The Waldorf Hilton until March 2027 is something we’re enormously excited about.”
Set on Aldwych in the heart of London’s West End, The Waldorf Hilton provides a distinctive setting for the Cape Town restaurant. The hotel’s Edwardian grandeur and proximity to Covent Garden, Somerset House and the capital’s theatres create an appealing contrast to The Pot Luck Club’s contemporary, flavour-driven personality.
The London experience retains the spirit of the Cape Town original: vibrant, sociable and sophisticated without being formal, with dishes designed to be shared. Guests can drop in for cocktails and small plates, enjoy dinner before a West End show or settle in for a longer evening.
The latest extension marks another chapter in The Pot Luck Club’s international journey. What began as a short-term South African culinary showcase has evolved into a long-running London residency, bringing a distinctive taste of Cape Town to the British capital for a second year.
