This August, audiences are invited to experience the infectious charm and wit of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, brought to life by Cape Town Opera in the intimate setting of Pieter Toerien’s Theatre on the Bay. Running from 5 to 17 August, this fully staged production performed with piano accompaniment promises to delight both opera lovers and newcomers alike.

Under the inspired direction of Sylvaine Strike, the production brings to centre stage the beloved character of Figaro, the clever and charismatic barber whose antics and schemes help unite two young lovers. With its sparkling humour, vibrant energy, and timeless melodies, The Barber of Seville remains one of opera’s most entertaining masterpieces.

This season also marks the Cape Town Opera debut of Innocent Masuku, former CTO Young Artist and Britain’s Got Talent finalist, who recently captivated UK audiences and judges alike with his powerful voice and stage presence. Masuku stars as Count Almaviva in the Red Cast, bringing a fresh and exciting dynamic to the role.
