The Restaurant at Plettenberg combines an array of elements to create an unsurpassed dining experience. The sand, beach and sea have been brought into the restaurant in the colours, mood and design. Unrivalled views of the breath-taking Formosa Bay are complimented by the décor, and together they create the perfect platform.
Here Head Chef, Kyle Macaskill and his team create modern South African fare that is seasonally influenced. The menu places great emphasis on fresh produce from local green-friendly suppliers and this gives the Restaurant at The Plettenberg the unique ability to showcase a true taste of the bay.
Leading off The Sun Lounge of The Plettenberg, The SandBar is an exquisite, contemporary cocktail bar and lounge frequented by both local patrons, as well as the South African elite who choose to holiday in Plettenberg Bay.
The glass, white leather, marble and natural oak finishes blend to form a striking design, highlighted by clever lighting. The large photographic panels on the walls offer an outdoor perspective of the Plettenberg Bay area.
The SandBar
Throughout the day, The SandBar is the perfect meeting spot for drinks and tea, and in the evenings it is ideal for enjoying award-winning South African wines, a variety of champagnes and an array of carefully crafted signature cocktails.
Who's Cooking?

Kyle Macaskill - Head Chef
With 16 years of industry experience to his name, Kyle Macaskill has taken charge of the kitchen as Head Chef at The Plettenberg. He originally started his tenure with the Liz McGrath Collection at the Cellars-Hohenort in 2010, where he has worked at both The Conservatory and Greenhouse restaurants.
