V&A Waterfront announces the return of Neighbourfood Winter Campaign - Cape Town
30 June 2023
The V&A Neighbourfood, now in its second year, is a multifaceted food initiative aimed at highlighting the V&A’s food ecosystem, collaboration with social partners and culinary offerings including its restaurants' winter specials. The initiative also speaks to the Waterfront’s holistic approach to food, where the impact of food is measured in communities created, memories made and over 6 000 livelihoods supported.
Tinyiko Mageza, Executive Head of Marketing, V&A Waterfront, said that Neighbourfood aims to develop a sustainable, locally-based, authentic and culturally diverse food ecosystem that supports healthy food lifestyles and livelihoods.
“Neighbourfood is our way of saying ‘come and let us break bread together’. Communal eating offers a sense of belonging, increases social bonding and feelings of wellbeing. It also sparks joy, enhances our sense of contentedness and embeds us within a community. The platform also serves as a table for important food conversations and this is reflected in themes and activations we have planned,” says Mageza.
Food Dialogues (4 to 18 July)
Food Dialogues returns in 2023 with two weeks of events that connect, in diverse and nuanced ways, people and food systems across the city. With events planned at the V&A Waterfront, Philippi Village, Langa and in community centres and faith centres across the city, Food Dialogues 2023 seeks to foster deeper and broader engagement with our food system, through inter-faith dining experiences, chef-lead culinary adventures, art exhibitions, walking tours, workshops and conference events.
