The Grande Roche Restaurant is under new management!

17 November 2020

Chef Kevin Grobler and his wife Inemari, together with her parents Celia and Rayno Rabie have taken over the kitchen and restaurant at The Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl.

Chef Kevin's impressive resume includes running the kitchen at Jan-Hendrik van der Westhuizen’s Michelin starred JAN in Nice, France; Head Chef position at Delaire Graff outside Stellenbosch and a stint at Le Petit Manoir restaurant and guest house in Franschhoek, amongst others.

Wife Inemari is an established chef in her own right and her creativity as a food stylist will add immense flair to the visual experience of the meal. The involvement of her parents, Celia and Rayno Rabie, add more background in excellence to the mix. Their history in hospitality is vast, with their previous venture, the Betty Blue Bistro in Hermanus winning the 2016 Eat Out Mercedes Benz Everyday Eatery Award for the Best Bistro in the Western Cape.

Now this formidable family team want to apply all their skills in the spectacular setting of the Grande Roche - a historical estate where the atmosphere of a bygone era brings a sense of gracious, unhurried living.

The terrace, with its picturesque vistas is the ideal daytime setting - from breakfast (classic Eggs Benedict or something more unique like Green Shakshuka) to sunset, with oysters and bubbly or bar snacks and cocktails.

For lunch and dinner Kevin envisions a unique blend of fine dining with a laid back atmosphere. “I just want to play with flavours and fresh ingredients and do justice to the long history of this pearl of the Paarl” says Kevin.
