Capsicum Culinary Studio announces two brand new courses

Capsicum Culinary Studio, South Africa’s largest cheffing school, with seven campuses across the country, is pleased to announce the introduction of two brand new courses.
They are:
The City & Guilds Diploma in Food and Beverage Service, which is a dynamic and engaging qualification tailored for individuals eager to launch their career or refine their skills in the vibrant hospitality industry but with a focus on restaurant operations. This six month, full time programme will provide students with the essential knowledge and expertise required to excel, giving them hands-on experience and the confidence to deliver outstanding service while adhering to industry standards. With this qualification, graduates will be well-equipped to become a skilled and valued member of any food and beverage team, ready to take on new challenges in the world of hospitality.
The course covers a myriad of key subjects such as understanding business success, providing guest service, awareness of sustainability in the hospitality industry, professional workplace standards, understanding own role in self-development, hygiene and food safety, food and beverage service principles, menu knowledge and hot and cold beverage product knowledge.
Armed with this qualification, graduates will be well equipped for careers as waiters, baristas, bartenders and food and beverage assistants with growth opportunities to advance to becoming restaurant supervisors, managers or food and beverage managers.
The City & Guilds Diploma in Reception Services Programme, which is designed to equip students with the essential skills for a successful career in any guest-facing role within the hospitality industry. Whether working in a hotel, resort, or any other hospitality establishments, reception is where a guest’s experience begins, and why that first point of contact is so important. The four month, full time programme covers all aspects, from managing bookings to handling guest enquiries and resolving issues in a positive, professional manner. Graduates will leave with the knowledge and confidence to create lasting impressions and deliver exceptional guest service.
The course includes topics such as understanding the hospitality industry, understanding business success, awareness of sustainability in the hospitality industry, professional workplace standards, understanding own role in self-development, principles of reception services, guest welcome, on stay guest service and operating reception systems.
Initial positions would include roles as receptionists, front desk agents, guest services assistants, reservationists or concierges, with growth opportunities to become reception supervisors, front office managers, guest services managers or reservations managers.
The City & Guilds Diploma in Food and Beverage Service and The City & Guilds Diploma in Reception Services Programme will come into effect with Capsicum’s July 2025 intake.
