With two weeks to go until The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2026 list is revealed, 50 Best has unveiled the hotels ranked from No.51 to No.100.

The recently expanded list underscores 50 Best’s commitment to recognising a broader spectrum of outstanding hospitality experiences. By shining a spotlight on more destinations, hotels and the people behind them, it offers a more complete picture of the properties shaping the future of global travel, all united by an unwavering commitment to exceptional hospitality.

The list is determined by votes from more than 800 anonymous experts from The World’s 50 Best Hotels Academy, representing a balanced mix of hoteliers, travel journalists, educators and experienced luxury travellers. Each Academy member is carefully selected by a team of industry-leading Academy Chairs.

Together, the hotels showcase some of the world’s finest hospitality and set the stage for the unveiling of The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2026 ranking in Paris on Tuesday, 15 September.

The 51-100 List in Numbers

• 10 independent hotels are featured on the list, with Il San Pietro di Positano ranking highest at No.58.
• The list spans 23 territories and 40 cities.
• Asia has the highest number of hotels of any continent, with 20 properties featured, followed by Europe with 16.
• Italy leads Europe with nine hotels on the list.
• North America has nine properties featured, five of which are in the US, including three in New York City.

Since launching in 2023, The World’s 50 Best Hotels has set out to unite the travel and hospitality industry from around the globe in celebration of the world’s leading hotels.

Following the introduction of the extended 51-100 list in 2025, the 50 Best community now welcomes even more hotels into the fold, highlighting a wider range of properties and individuals setting the standard for excellence in the travel industry.

Asia tops the list with 20 hotels, including seven properties in Japan

Janu Tokyo is the highest-ranked hotel in Japan at No.52. Other new entries in the Japanese capital include Park Hyatt Tokyo (No.53), The Okura (No.69) and Palace Hotel Tokyo (No.73). Also in Tokyo, Hoshinoya Tokyo is ranked No.85.

Elsewhere in Japan, Hotel The Mitsui in Kyoto is ranked No.79, while Waldorf Astoria Osaka enters the list at No.89.

Two hotels in Hong Kong have made the list, with Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong at No.59 and Four Seasons Hong Kong at No.86.  Mainland China has two entries: Mandarin Oriental Shenzhen at No.90 and The Peninsula Shanghai at No.99. India also has two hotels on the list: independent hotel The Johri in Jaipur at No.94 and The Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur at No.98, making its first appearance on the list.

Elsewhere in Asia, Soneva Fushi in the Maldives is ranked No.55. Indonesia’s Mandapa in Bali is No.61, followed by Rosewood Bangkok (No.70) in Thailand and Sri Lanka’s Amangalla (No.71) in Galle. Capella Hanoi in Vietnam enters the list for the first time at No.81, alongside another new entry, Wynn Palace (No.96) in Macau. Capella Singapore re-enters the list at No.97.

Europe is represented by 16 hotels, spanning new properties and long-established favourites

La Réserve Paris re-enters the list at No.51, topping the extended ranking.

France has three other properties on the list, including new entries Ritz Paris at No.72 and Carlton Cannes at No.80. The Maybourne Riviera also re-enters the list at No.93.

Italy is the European country with the highest number of hotels included, with nine properties featured. Il San Pietro di Positano (No.58) is Italy’s highest new entry, while Castiglion del Bosco in Montalcino (No.62), Orient Express La Minerva in Rome (No.66), Forestis Dolomites in Brixen (No.68) and Villa Treville in Positano (No.91) all enter the list for the first time.

Splendido in Portofino is ranked No.60, followed by Borgo Santandrea in Amalfi at No.84 and Borgo Egnazia in Savelletri at No.88. Reschio in Lisciano Niccone is ranked No.95.

Elsewhere on the continent, the UK features two hotels: new entry Rosewood London at No.56 and Gleneagles at No.100 in Auchterarder. In Türkiye, independently owned Maçakızı in Bodrum is ranked No.76.

North America is home to nine hotels

Of the nine hotels in North America, the highest entry is Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles at No.57. Also in Los Angeles, The Beverly Hills Hotel is ranked No.65.

New York City is home to three properties on the 51-100 list: The Fifth Avenue Hotel at No.78, which is also this year’s winner of the American Express Travel One To Watch Award; Aman New York at No.87; and The Greenwich Hotel at No.92.

Further afield, Mexico has three hotels on the list: Hotel Esencia in Tulum, which re-enters at No.64; Montage Los Cabos in Cabo San Lucas at No.67; and Four Seasons Tamarindo in La Manzanilla at No.74.

Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo in Panama City also enters the list for the first time at No.63.

South America is represented by two hotels

South America is home to two properties in the ranking: Palacio Nazarenas in Cusco, Peru, at No.54 and Hotel das Cataratas at Brazil’s Iguassu Falls at No.77.

Oceania is home to two hotels, while Morocco represents Africa with one

In Morocco, La Mamounia is ranked No.75.

Oceania’s two entries are New Zealand’s Huka Lodge in Taupō at No.82 and The Calile in Brisbane, Australia, at No.83.

The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2026 list will be announced on Tuesday, 15 September, at an awards ceremony at Les Salles du Carrousel in Paris. The event will also be streamed live on the 50 Best YouTube channel, with the livestream beginning at 20:00 Paris time.

How the voting works

The Academy is the mechanism used to create The World’s 50 Best Hotels list. None of 50 Best’s employees or any sponsors associated with the awards has any influence over the results.

To ensure the more than 800-member Academy provides a fair representation of the global hotel scene, Academy Chairs are divided across 13 geographical regions. Each Chair is selected as an expert on the travel scene in their region, with extensive contacts within the hotel sector.

The Chairs each select a voting panel, ensuring a balanced representation of hoteliers, travel journalists, hotel educators, business travellers and consumer travel aficionados. A minimum of 25% of the panel is renewed each year. All voters, aside from the Academy Chairs, remain anonymous to eliminate the possibility of lobbying.

Each Academy member can vote for any hotel they have stayed in anywhere in the world, irrespective of their home region. Each voter casts seven votes for hotels in order of preference, based on stays experienced during the three-year voting period.

Voting is carried out individually and strictly confidentially on a secure site and remains confidential before the list is announced. Academy Chairs are not privy to, or aware of, the votes cast by voters in their respective regions and are not official spokespeople for the 50 Best brand.

Professional services consultancy Deloitte is the official independent adjudicator of The World’s 50 Best Hotels. Deloitte has been granted full and independent access to the voting process and data and has performed procedures to confirm the integrity and authenticity of the voting process and resulting list.
