MAReSOL Restaurant, the exciting new addition to the V&A Waterfront will be a friendly, yet sophisticated 200 seater Portuguese restaurant. Located in the old Hildebrand building at the Pierhead, MAReSOL will boast breath-taking harbour and mountain views. MAReSOL will unmistakably be a fine dining experience in every respect from the service to the food quality and presentation. Authentically prepared Portuguese dishes presented with a touch of Mozambique.
The Executive Chef - Eva de Jesus
Eva de Jesus has been appointed as the highly esteemed and internationally experienced executive head chef. She has proven herself when it comes to developing menus, setting up kitchen procedures and training staff, including front of house product knowledge. Besides her natural talent as a chef, Eva is very skilled at upholding high quality standards, liaising with suppliers, guests and media. She is excited by the combination of tastes in the Portuguese style of cooking. Her passion for Portuguese flavours is evident and she uses an authentic method of preparing Portuguese food. All her ingredients are sourced in order to ensure that stocks and sauces are made from scratch.
The restaurant will be home to an eclectic combination of Portuguese and Mozambican cuisine. There will be no shortage of much loved Portuguese flavours to be enjoyed with a glass of Vinho Tinto. Sharing will be encouraged by our waiters: choose from our large variety of starters to create platters for the table to share. Starters include Figados de Galinha (mind blowing chicken livers with on- ion & peri-peri), Chouriço (with roasted peppers marinated with a garlic, thyme & cherry vinegar), Lulas (calamari with salsa verde or with a spicy paprika, garlic & chili), Prawn & Bacon (With black fig, honey, apple & almond). Main menu dishes include old favourites like free range Piri Piri Whole Baby Chicken, spicy Trincha- do, Espetada and Bacalhau. It will also include a heavy dose of shellfish like their langoustines, crayfish and LM prawns. Desserts will feature authentic Portuguese delicacies like Pastéis de Nata and Leite Creme.
Average Menu Pricing
On average starter menu dishes will be R65, with main menu dishes around R175 and an average of R55 for dessert options. View our sample menu on our Menu Section.
The building has been architecturally designed by the esteemed Wollf Architects, reflecting the beauty of its surroundings. Careful attention has placed on ensuring that no matter where in the restaurant you are, you will always have magnificent harbour and mountain views. With its carefully planned layout, design and an enticing menu, MAReSOL will be opening its doors, at the end of November this year.
