October 2012 marked the 15 Year Anniversary of Imbizo Shisinyama, South Africa’s only authentic African Braai restaurant promising patrons Africa’s Ultimate Braai Experience. More popularly known as Busy Corner, Imbizo Shisinyama has earned an enviable reputation for excellent African Braai cuisine, quality service and a culture that emanates class, style and dignity. The entire experience centres on celebrating the African lifestyle, culture and heritage.

In South Africa today more than 45% of the population is unemployed. More than half of all South Africans live on less than R10 per day. Education and mentorship are not luxuries but an economic imperative needed to grow the country’s future economy and give economic freedom and liberalisation to the South African Youth.

In February 2012 Rita was appointed as an ambassador for the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) Initiative Ithubalentsha Micro Enterprise a role she takes very seriously.

Rita is keenly aware of the need for mentoring and guiding today’s youth and clearly demonstrated this commitment by announcing the launch of the Imbizo Shisinyama Sakhisizwe Bursary Programme at the 15 Year Anniversary celebrations in October 2012.

“Our youth have grown up in an age of instant gratification where almost everything is available instantly. Consequently, many expect the same instantaneous success in their careers and fail to understand that lasting success cannot be accomplished overnight. Being a business owner is not without its challenges, but every challenge also offers an opportunity to grow, learn and overcome,” says Rita Zwane.

“Through this programme we hope to liberate our youth and inspire economic freedom by giving youngsters from the local community the opportunity to gain a solid education which is what they need to face the world with confidence and real-world working experience in the food, beverage and hospitality industries, it will also assist them in starting their own businesses,” says Rita.

The programme has been designed to promote the community youth to pursue a career in the food, beverage and hospitality industry.
