Holding Statement: Fire at Stables Restaurant, Vergelegen – Containment Efforts Underway

Vergelegen confirms that a fire broke out at the Stables Restaurant on the estate on Tuesday 03 March 2026. All guests and staff were safely evacuated.
Fire brigades arrived promptly and are currently working hard to contain the fire. We can confirm that no injuries have been recorded and emergency services continue to monitor the area to ensure the site remains safe.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. Vergelegen is cooperating closely with the relevant authorities, who will commence their assessments once the fire has been fully contained. A comprehensive evaluation of the damage will follow once the site is secure. Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our guests, employees, and the surrounding community remains our foremost priority.
