Dedicated to the wise man of the magi who was "lord of treasures", a treasure trove of delights awaits foodies and wine connoisseurs at Belthazar. Follow the romantic lamps on the water’s edge at the V&A Waterfront to a terrace with dreamy views of Table Bay and Table Mountain, and the rich ambience of a wharf warehouse offering a meat and seafood extravaganza and the largest wine-by-the-glass bar in the world.
This is Belthazar, a Theatre of Fine Food and Wine, with 2017 Awards of Excellence from TripAdvisor and Wine Spectator, a new menu and wine list, Christmas Lunch and New Year’s Eve Dinners, and a beautiful all-weather dining enclosure on the terrace in the heart of the V&A Waterfront. Wine Spectator’s 2017 Restaurant Wine List Awards have once again honoured Belthazar with their prestigious Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence for outstanding dedication to wine. This esteemed accolade is awarded to a select group of only 1168 world-class restaurants globally. “These restaurants are destinations for serious wine lovers, showing a deep commitment to wine, both in the cellar and through their service team. Their wine lists display excellent breadth across multiple winegrowing regions and/or significant vertical depth of top producers, along with superior presentation.”, said Marvin R. Signature Minestrone Soup;
Warm Spicy Avocado & Lime Kale Salad – Warm kale, sautéed vegetables topped with corn, black beans and avocado and garnished with apple, pear and coriander with a spicy chipotle dressing;
Fall-off-the-bone Lamb Shanks Slow-Cooked in Red Wine;
Delicious spicy authentic Kashmiri Rogan Josh Lamb Curry served with basmati rice and topped with natural yoghurt;
Argentinian Rib-Eye – the King of Steak from the Kings of Beef, with inherent tenderness, well-marbled texture and wonderful rich fat content which gives it that superb rich beefy flavour:
Flintstone Cut 1kg Rib-Eye on the Bone – Giant-size, juicy and tender with marbled texture (for 2 persons);
Picanha Steak – Extremely popular in Brazil, it is the top piece of the rump, tender as fillet with the flavour of rump. A firm favourite with meat lovers;
Hanger Steak – This unusual cut, prized for its flavour, is sometimes known as the ‘Butcher’s Steak’ because the butchers would often keep it for themselves rather than offer it for sale;
Prawn & Chicken Curry – Fresh chicken and de-shelled prawns prepared in a Northern Indian way with tomato and ground cashew nuts in a light cream sauce served with basmati rice;

Brioche Burgers – The Burgers which made the Slick Restaurant Group famous are now served on a home-baked, brioche bun made with egg and butter and coated with sesame seeds.
And for a decadent end to a lovely evening, the Ferrero Rocher Chocolate & Custard Fantasy Dessert is a must, with chocolate brownie and homemade fudge pieces layered with custard and topped with seasonal berries, laced with a drizzle of Marsala wine and topped with real Ferrero Rocher chocolates.

Belthazar, perfectly located in the heart of the V&A Waterfront, seats 90x indoors and has a private dining area for 25x. Their spectacular all-weather dining enclosure on the terrace, which seats 200x, is equipped with a mist cooling system and heaters, and offers panoramic views of the Waterfront and Table Mountain.
The Meat Experience at Belthazar
Belthazar’s in-house Master Butcher sources only the best local and Argentinian AAA Grade grain-fed and grass-fed beef, which is matured for a minimum of 28 days. All the meat is hung on the carcass (dry-aged) for three days in specially-designed temperature-controlled cold rooms with humidity. Thereafter, the Fillet, Sirloin, Rump and Rib-Eye are ‘wet-aged’, while the T-Bone, Chicago Cut (Belthazar’s signature Rib-Eye on the bone), Fillet on the Bone and Sirloin on the Bone are left to ‘dry-age’ for up to 40 days. Belthazar’s extensive Game Menu includes Ostrich, Crocodile, Springbok, Kudu, Impala, Wildebeest, Blesbok, Gemsbok and Eland.
Belthazar Seafood Extravaganza
Belthazar specialises in Mozambican shellfish, Norwegian salmon and the freshest local seafood. For a real extravaganza, what could get better than the Mozambican Royal Seafood Platter for Two, including a whole crayfish, four medium langoustines, 4 medium tiger prawns, 6 queen prawns and fresh mussels – perfectly prepared and served with lemon butter, garlic butter and per-peri sauce.
The Wine Wonder at Belthazar
The wine experience at Belthazar is second to none with wine, wine everywhere, tempting wine-lovers with the largest wine-by-the-glass bar in the world. The restaurant’s innovative nitrogen-infused wine-by-the-glass bar serves over 250 of the Cape's finest wines by the glass, patrons are expertly advised by trained sommeliers on a wine-list of up to 600 fine wines and sought-after rare vintages, and the wines are professionally stored in a designer vinoteque and served in Riedel glassware which enhances the wine of your choice. With a superb wine selection by single varietal, blend and style, the state-of-the-art wine list at Belthazar highlights vintage ratings, critics’ ratings, wine awards and taste indicators. The wine list is compiled by André Lourens, the very knowledgeable and experienced group beverage manager for the Slick Restaurant Group.
In addition to an extraordinary wine list, Belthazar also specialises in whiskies/whiskeys, single malts, brandies, Cognac, Armagnac, Calvados, liqueurs, beers (traditional and craft) and ciders.
Belthazar, a world class eatery on the cutting-edge of ‘shoppertainment’, also showcases a glittering store of Riedel glassware, wine aprons, corkscrews, cookbooks, gourmet sauces and exclusive gourmet knives, a Biltong Bar and a retail wine shop.
