Franschhoek’s iconic Haute Cabrière Restaurant is well known for its unique location, set into the side of Franschhoek Mountain and overlooking the Valley. Soaring arches and the view over the cathedral-like Pinot Noir Barrel Maturation Cellar below offer an experience which is not to be missed. On sunny days, guests can enjoy the beautiful vistas over Franschhoek from the terrace, while on cool days a roaring fire creates a cosy atmosphere.
Haute Cabrière’s menu by Chefs Nic van Wyk and Chef Westley Muller revolves around seasonal availability of produce, which is mostly sourced locally or even grown organically on the farm. The flavours and textures on the plate are specifically designed to complement the range of Haute Cabrière wines and Pierre Jourdan Cap Classiques – all of them served by the glass and by the bottle. Bringing all of these elements together, Haute Cabriere offers the complete marriage of food and wine.
Haute Cabriere’s Tasting Room is situated adjacent to the Haute Cabrière Cellar Restaurant, and offers guests an exclusive wine experience. An auditorium within the Pinot Noir barrel maturation cellar, as well as additional tasting facilities, ensure that visitors are able to enjoy Pierre Jourdan and Haute Cabrière wines in their natural habitat. Every Saturday Achim von Arnim and his son, Takuan, treat guests to the ultimate in wine theatre. Visitors are whisked away on the intimate journey through Haute Cabrière’s history and wine philosophy. The use of a famed French cavalry sabre, to open bottle after bottle of Pierre Jourdan Cap Classique, adds the perfect amount of dramatic flair to this exceptional adventure.

Haute Cabriere Restaurant keeps the fire burning this Winter.
With the cooler winter weather firmly setting in, the Haute Cabrière dining room’s soft lights and cosy fireplace present the perfect setting for the hearty winter steak special and comfort food on offer.
Two course Winter Steak Special at R230: Featuring a generous steak as main course, with triple fried hand cut chips, garlic and black pepper sauce, green beans and onion rings, paired with the Haute Cabrière Pinot Noir Reserve, at R185pp. Diners can add a dessert of the day for an additional R45. Available for lunch and dinner, excluding Sundays.
Six course Tasting Menu at R450: The six course Haute Cabrière tasting menu gives diners the opportunity to sample more courses off the menu compared to regular dining, and also a larger range of the Haute Cabrière and Pierre Jourdan wines. Current menu favourites include the venison loin with port sauce and an onion and fig tart, paired with the Haute Cabrière Pinot Noir Reserve, and the sago pudding with almond ice cream and toasted meringue, paired with Pierre Jourdan Ratafia. The price is inclusive of wine paired with each course. Available for lunch in the 12h00 and 12h30 time slots, and for dinner in 18h30 and 19h00 times slots, excluding Sundays.
Feast on Sundays: Enjoy catching up with family and friends with ‘Feast’, a menu designed around feasting and the breaking of bread. The menu celebrates abundance and pays tribute to leisurely family lunches. R370 pp with wine from the Haute Cabrière and Pierre Jourdan ranges included. Children 12 and under R150.
