The Best Gourmet Burgers and Ribs in Cape Town!

At Gibson's Burgers in Cape Town the owners mission was to establish  ‘The Best Burger’ and travelled far and wide to visit the premier burger places in the World, including Chicago, New York and Las Vegas. Then by combining input from Belthazar’s Master Butcher, their 27 years’ of experience in preparing sauces for St Elmo’s at their SABS HACCAP factory, and the opinions from hundreds of burger tastings,  ‘The Ultimate Burger’ was born. Gibsons, home of the 200g dream burger, is a trendy spot alongside Belthazar by the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

Prepared with grain-fed beef, first the burger is flame-grilled with the secret basting, then placed in a home baked sesame seed bun. Fresh lettuce, sun ripened tomato, caramelized onion, and Collette’s supreme deli picked cucumber.  Then the no 6 Creamy Sauce is applied. Served with thick cut fries (potato, sweet Potato, or a mix of the two) and a dash of their seasoning salt.  Quote: Weekend Argus columnist Bianca Coleman: “Freaking awesome burgers!”

The best possible burger at incredible value for money, a choice of chicken or beef between R65 & R90, inclusive of either fries or baked potato!  For a little more enjoy a Designer Burger, or our Rolls Royce Burgers, or try the Giant Mushroom burger for vegetarians, also the Easter Burger made from Lentils, chick peas, spices and vegetables!

Starters include Gibson's Burgers Famous Onion Blossom, their signature, a, seasoned before deep frying giant onion served with a piquant secret sauce, the Peri-Peri Chicken Livers sautéed with onion, chilli, cream and a smidgen of brandy.

Popular dishes other than Burger include Beef, Karoo lamb, or Pork Spare Ribs, smoked and marinated in a sweet barbeque sauce. Steak lovers can enjoy a matured A-Grade Wet-or-Dry-Aged Beef precisely the same as that which award-winning sister restaurant, Belthazar is renowned for. Seafood lovers can savour the sea-fresh grilled or fried calamari and the exciting selection of garden-fresh salads.

Decadent dessert offers a selection of Sundaes and over 40 Hand-Spun Double-Thick Gourmet Shakes with additions such as Bar-One, Peppermint Crisp or Crushed Oreos, to name a few.

A selection of slow-brewed beers and 12 premium House Wines sourced by Belthazar’s Head Sommelier, Andre Lourens are on offer. Priced from less than R100 a bottle these are equal to 4-star in Platter’s Wine Guide. Gibson’s Vintage Red 2002 is a steal (a Merlot-led Bordeaux-style blend supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc with a hint of Malbec and Petit Verdot) and is also available by the glass. Champagne, Cap Classique or cocktails, are on offer.

An informal yet stylized décor with soft jazz in the background is reminiscent of Jazz in 1940’s New York. Served by a pristinely dressed efficient staff, generous portions of delicious cuisine, the appropriate beverage, and affordable prices, enjoyed only at Gibsons!
