we specialize in Traditional Cape Malay, Malaysian/Indonisian Cooking

Based at the Portswood Hotel in the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, The Quarterdeck Restaurant is situated in an original section of the Breakwater Convict Station erected in 1860. With an enviable heritage and history the Quarterdeck serves authentic Cape Malay, Malaysian/ Indonesian dishes as well as other meal options.

Head Chef Craig Paulse’s specialty is the Chef's Feast, a three-course meal including the most popular dishes on the menu careful selected by Craig. This meal allows diners to savor the unique flavors evident in Malay cooking.

The Quarterdeck Restaurant has a boardroom seats up to a maximum of 10, and is ideal for meetings or conferences after a meal.

The Link Bar in the Quarterdeck Restaurant allows guests sip on a cocktail or iced cold drink with a scenic view of Table Mountain and our magnificent garden.

"Potjiekos" aka “pot food” is part of South Africa's culinary heritage as much as the braai, aka Barbeque. Wheras the braai is dependent largely on the specific wood used in the potjie the regulation of the heat is what counts. It is advisable is to keep a separate fire going to provide adequate coals.

At The Quarterdeck you are invited to bring your family and friends to sit around the fire with the softly bubbling "Potjie", to chat, enjoy a drink, while savoring the tantalizing aroma from the "potjie", a truly African experience.
