Franschhoek’s iconic Haute Cabrière Restaurant is well known for its unique location, set into the side of Franschhoek Mountain and overlooking the Valley. Soaring arches and the view over the cathedral-like Pinot Noir Barrel Maturation Cellar below offer an experience which is not to be missed. On sunny days, guests can enjoy the beautiful vistas over Franschhoek from the terrace, while on cool days a roaring fire creates a cosy atmosphere.
Haute Cabrière’s menu by Chefs Nic van Wyk and Chef Westley Muller revolves around seasonal availability of produce, which is mostly sourced locally or even grown organically on the farm. The flavours and textures on the plate are specifically designed to complement the range of Haute Cabrière wines and Pierre Jourdan Cap Classiques – all of them served by the glass and by the bottle. Bringing all of these elements together, Haute Cabriere offers the complete marriage of food and wine.
Haute Cabriere’s Tasting Room is situated adjacent to the Haute Cabrière Cellar Restaurant, and offers guests an exclusive wine experience. An auditorium within the Pinot Noir barrel maturation cellar, as well as additional tasting facilities, ensure that visitors are able to enjoy Pierre Jourdan and Haute Cabrière wines in their natural habitat. Every Saturday Achim von Arnim and his son, Takuan, treat guests to the ultimate in wine theatre. Visitors are whisked away on the intimate journey through Haute Cabrière’s history and wine philosophy. The use of a famed French cavalry sabre, to open bottle after bottle of Pierre Jourdan Cap Classique, adds the perfect amount of dramatic flair to this exceptional adventure.

PJ Pops - Haute Cabrière
Pierre Jourdan Wine Popsicles, or PJ Pops as we like to call them, are South Africa’s first ever, home-grown, wine-based ice popsicles to land on local shelves.
Created by JML Consulting, the PJ Pops come in two eye-catching offerings made from the Pierre Jourdan Brut, a Cap Classique, and Pierre Jourdan Tranquille, a still wine made from a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Both wines are from the acclaimed Franschhoek cellar Pierre Jourdan at Haute Carrière.
Vegan-friendly, and made using only natural ingredients, these decadently delicious, adults-only frozen treats can be enjoyed and shared at any time of the day. They are the ideal addition to a braai or picnic, and a refreshing treat at the end of a long day. Having a dinner party? They work beautifully as an aperitif, a palate cleanser, or even an alternative dessert.

Enjoy our unique vista of Franschhoek from the restaurant and tasting room terrace. Chefs Nic van Wyk and Westley Muller offer a tasty tapas style menu using our Big Green Egg, available throughout the festival to pair with Haute Cabrière and Pierre Jourdan wines. Live music over the weekend and Cellarmaster Takuan von Arnim will be demonstrating sabrage. Our famous Ratafia ball throwing competition will be on, R20 per ticket. Prizes up for grabs for participants.
