Aubergine Restaurant strives to provide everything that’s fine in the world of wining and dining. Aubergine has string of awards and accolades attesting to their dedication and commitment to dining excellence in South Africa.
Harald Bresselschmidt the head chef and owner, continually sets the pace and spends hours creating and preparing gourmet dishes for patrons to savour. Fresh produce is always incorporated into the dazzling new dishes that include fresh seafood from the Peninsula, local game and wild mushrooms from the heart of our forests. The cooking is a sumptuous blend of nutritious, classical cuisine at times influenced by fragrant nuances from Asia. Diners can select a premier wine from a selection of more than 450 wines to accompany their meal.
Aubergine serves lunch Wednesday - Friday for lunch from 12h00 to 14h00 between September and April. Choose from an A la Carte Menu or 3-course Chef's menu. They will consider opening on other weekdays to host groups of 20 or more at lunchtime.
Secure parking is available around the corner at the Jewish Museum in Hatlfield Street.

The A la Carte menu changes with the seasons and availability of fresh local ingredients. Diners can enjoy a variety of creative starters followed by delicious main courses such as seafood, chicken, meat and game, as well as an array of vegetarian fare.
Fresh produce decides the daily menu so be sure to order fresh oysters in season. For that sweet after taste enjoy a sensational choice of desserts such as Tiramisu Soufflé or a savoury platter of international and local cheeses.
Degustation is a culinary term for an appreciation of tasting various foods and is perfect for a special occasions. A three, four or five course Degustation Menu is available from R535 to R795 per person. This creation offers the most popular dishes and wine pairing is an excellent additional option.
The wine list at Aubergine includes some 400 wines, mainly from South African vintages with an array of special imports. With the focus on the best South African Estate wines, the selection starts from R170 for quality and value to the finest award winning wines. The wines include classical European grape varieties and New world wines.
Aubergine Restaurant caters for your special event, wedding, function or celebration. Up to 50 guests can be seated in the main dining room and groups of 12-13 and 15-18 can be seated in smaller intimate dining rooms.

Harald Bresselschmidt was born in the pristine Eifel Region of Germany close to the Belgian border. As a child he was strongly influenced by life on a working dairy farm, instilling in him a love of the land and an appreciation for fresh produce. Harald worked in restaurants from an early age spending time predominately in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland and London before doing his Masters in Gastronomy. His cuisine is based on a philosophy of natural flavours and seasonal ingredients, and a number of his dishes are infused with Asian influences. This team, committed to detail and fundamental techniques, and the imagination and craft of his kitchen, create innovative yet discerning combinations of food experiences.
